skin lightening products

Overexposure to the sun, bad lifestyle choices, health issues, pollution and even stress can all contribute to dark, dull and pigmented skin. Do you wish to have a fair, perfect complexion? For many girls, having fair and flawless skin is a dream. Though you may not be born with beautiful skin, there is a myriad of skin lightening creams and lotions that promise you fairer and more beautiful skin. Instead of these chemical-laden concoctions which can harm your skin, there are a plethora of natural home treatments that you can try.

Skin lightening creams, sometimes called skin brightening creams, are used to lighten the color of the skin. They work by lowering melanin levels, a pigment generated by skin cells that control how light or dark our skin appears.

Though we are not implying that light skin is preferable to dark skin in general, we are merely providing you with a list of home remedies that you can use to achieve a healthy and bright complexion. These home remedies will help you remove tan and pigmentation from your skin, leaving you with a clear, beautiful complexion.

  1. Lemon

Mix two drops of lemon juice and three drops of water and gently apply it to your skin using a cotton pad. Keep for 10 minutes and wash with cool water. After that, pat dry.

You can also add a few drops of lemon juice to other homemade masks. After applying lemon to your skin, make sure you don't go out in the sun right away.

  2. Tomato

To apply tomato pulp to your skin, combine it with a small amount of lemon juice. Apply the paste to your face and leave it on for 20 minutes before washing it off with cool water.

To achieve fair skin, apply this paste every day before bathing.

  3. Yogurt

You can use yogurt to treat sunburn and prevent acne.

Make a paste combining two teaspoons of plain yogurt and one teaspoon honey to use as your skin-lightening face pack. Apply to your face and let it stay for 15 minutes. Wash off with cool water.

  4. Turmeric

Simply mix one teaspoon turmeric powder with three teaspoons lime juice and apply to your skin. Remove it after 15 minutes by washing it off.

You can use this remedy on your underarms instead of using underarm whitening cream which can irritate your skin.

  5. Milk

Make a milk face pack by combining one teaspoon of milk with one teaspoon of honey, and gently massage it all over your face in circular motions. Keep it for 15 minutes and wash it off.

  6. Cucumber

Use cucumber slices to treat dark circles around the eyes. You can also put cucumber in a mixer grinder and apply the juice to your face to get glowing skin. Wash it off when it dries.

  7. Papaya

Make a paste and apply it generously on your skin. Wash it off when it dries.

  8. Oats

Combine two tablespoons’ oats and three tablespoons yogurt in a mixing bowl. Toss in about half a lemon and stir well to make a paste. Keep for 10 to 15 minutes until it dries on your skin. After that, wash it in cold water and pat dry.

  9. Saffron

Add a few strands of saffron to water and let them sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Mix this water with milk, honey or turmeric to prepare various face masks. Apply to the skin and keep on for 10 minutes before washing with cold water.

  10. Honey

You can apply honey directly to your face and neck, but make sure your skin is clean and wet first. Allow it to absorb by massaging it into the skin. Wash it off with lukewarm water.

These home remedies are beneficial both individually and when combined. You may easily mix a few of them, make a paste and apply it to your skin. Instead of reaching for harmful skin lightening products that promise you white-paper like skin, look around your home for all of these natural ingredients.
